The Centre for Advanced Imaging's Biograph Horizon PET-CT as part of the ACRF Facility for Molecular Imaging Agents for Cancer

The CAI Siemens Biograph Horizon PET/CT scanner was funded by the Australian Cancer Research Foundation as part of the ACRF Facility for Molecular Imaging Agents for Cancer. The system acquires high resolution three-dimensional Computed Tomography (CT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) images of humans and large animals, enabling registration and fusion of physiological and anatomical information as well as physiological functions. It features 700 mm CT-16/32 Slice and PET axial Field of view (FOV) of 164 mm and Time of Flight (TOF) reconstruction capability. The system is equipped with Siemens multi-modality software, syngo.

The CT component produces three-dimensional cross-sectional computed tomography images of the body. The PET scanner measures the distribution of PET radiopharmaceuticals for the purpose of determining various metabolic (molecular) and physiologic functions. The PET scanner utilises the CT data for fast attenuation correction maps of the PET images as well as allowing anatomical reference for the fused PET and CT images.
