The Centre for Advanced Imaging offers two Research Higher degree programs:

  • the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
  • the Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

On average the PhD takes 3.5 years to complete and the MPhil takes 2 years.

The RHD Program is all about training to become an independent researcher. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of your field and will be involved in cutting-edge research at the forefront of the field. You will develop skills enabling you to communicate your work to audiences both within your field and to the wider community and you will contribute to the scientific literature within your field. You will develop transferable skills such as independent and critical thinking, project management, time management, scientific writing and more.

Throughout your candidature you can expect to have support from your supervisors with respect to your research project and associated milestones, and support from administrative staff with respect to Candidature matters. UQ also provides counselling services and regular career development courses.

UQ follows the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research which guides institutions and researchers in responsible research practices and promotes integrity in research for researchers.
