Speaker Bios:
Dr Shelley Keating is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, The University of Queensland. As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, her research explores the role that exercise plays in the management of obesity and obesity-related chronic disease, with a focus on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Shelley completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2015, where her research demonstrated that liver and visceral fat can be reduced in adults with obesity, without weight loss, and using exercise interventions that fall below current recommendations for obesity management. Shelley’s current research interests include the utility of high intensity interval training (HIIT) for the management of obesity, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.
Dr Kate Mahady has over 10 years experience in radiology across the United Kingdom and Australia. Kate has worked as a consultant in neuroradiology since 2015. Her research and professional experience include working with The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (London, UK), North Bristol NHS Trust (UK), Everlight Radiology UK and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
