Hoover, the happy 10-year-old beagle, came to us diagnosed with prostate cancer. His parents wanted to help give him the best treatment they could. A novel nanomedicine, engineered by our Associate Professor Kris Thurecht and his team, is designed to specifically target a protein found in prostate cancers called prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA). In the hope to save Hoover, he became the first patient in the world to receive the novel nanomedicine.
The Centre gives a special thank you to Hoover's family for this story and their valuable contribution to our research.
Thank you Hoover, Brenda and Neil Douglas.
